Privacy practices for local document tools

Document processing

When you choose a PDF, DOCX, or TXT file, browser code reads it on your device. Conversion, extraction, counting, and merging occur in memory through browser APIs and Web Workers. EditableDocument does not provide a document upload endpoint or remote conversion API, and document contents are not sent to Cloudflare, advertising providers, or analytics services by these tools.

Generated files are created as temporary browser objects and downloaded through your browser. Your device, browser download history, backup software, and file-sync settings may retain the resulting file independently of this website.

Local drafts and browser storage

PDF to Word and Word to PDF can save a lightweight editable draft in IndexedDB after you edit content. A draft may contain extracted text, sanitized editor HTML or editor data, a source label, and a saved time. Uploaded PDF and DOCX binary files are not stored in IndexedDB. Drafts remain on the device until you discard them, clear site data, or the browser removes storage.

Necessary storage also records consent preferences so the site can remember whether you accepted or rejected optional categories. The web app cache may store static HTML, scripts, styles, and icons for performance or offline use; it is not configured to cache selected documents or generated downloads.

Advertising and analytics

The site is prepared to use Google AdSense after a valid publisher account is configured. Advertising code is not loaded before advertising consent. Advertising providers may then process browser identifiers, IP address, approximate location, device information, ad interactions, and cookies according to their own policies. Ads are separate from document processing and do not receive document contents or filenames from our code.

No analytics provider is enabled by default. An optional privacy-conscious analytics configuration may later collect limited page and tool events after analytics consent. Event design excludes document text, filenames, drafts, generated files, and raw error objects.

Hosting and technical logs

EditableDocument is intended to be hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like most hosting and network providers, Cloudflare may process IP addresses, request times, requested URLs, user-agent information, security signals, and error data to deliver and protect the static site. A request for the website does not include the contents of a document selected later through your browser file picker.

Third-party services

Cloudflare provides site delivery. Google may provide advertising after consent and configuration. Optional Plausible analytics can be enabled later if a domain is configured and analytics consent is granted. External links lead to websites with their own privacy practices.

Retention and controls

Local drafts and consent preferences remain according to your browser’s storage rules. You can discard drafts in the relevant tool, reopen cookie settings from the footer, clear site data through browser settings, block optional cookies, or use browser privacy controls. Hosting and third-party providers apply their own legitimate retention schedules.

International visitors and children

The website can be accessed internationally, so technical data handled by service providers may be processed in countries with different data-protection laws. The service is a general document utility and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly request children’s personal information through an account or contact form.

Changes and contact
